  1. The United Nations’ International Day for Countering Hate Speech is annually observed across the globe on 18 June as a crucial reminder to address the global problem of hate speech.  
  2. International Picnic Day is annually observed across the globe on 18 June to celebrate the tradition of meals taken outdoors in a park, lakeside, or any spot with a beautiful view.
  3. The United Nations’ Sustainable Gastronomy Day is annually observed across the globe on 18 June to create awareness about the important role of gastronomy towards sustainable development.
  4. Autistic Pride Day is annually observed on 18 June across the world to promote awareness about the understanding, and acceptance of Autism Spectrum Disorder, a complex developmental disorder that affects communication and social interaction.
  5. Ministry of Culture has announced that the Gandhi Peace Prize for 2021 will be conferred on Gita Press, Gorakhpur, in recognition of its “outstanding contribution towards social, economic and political transformation through non-violent and other Gandhian methods”.
  6. The Nehru Museum Memorial and Library, named after India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, has been renamed as the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library Society.
  7. Madhya Pradesh has bagged the first place in National Water Awards under the Best State category for its excellent work in conservation, promotion and management of water resources.
  8. The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution to establish a new Memorial Wall for fallen peacekeepers, piloted by India.
  9. The Indian Government, through the Department of Legal Affairs, has taken a significant step towards improving the arbitration process by forming an expert committee led by former Law Secretary T K Vishwanathan, which aims to recommend reforms to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act of 1996.
  10. Ambassador Satish Chandra, an Indian diplomat, has penned a book titled ‘A Life Well Spent – Four Decades in the Indian Foreign Service,’ chronicling his extensive career in the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) from 1965 to 2005.
  11. The first ever National Legislators’ Conference Bharat (NLC Bharat) was officially inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in Mumbai on 16 June, 2023.
  12. On 18 June 2023, Indian Men’s Football Team (also known as Blue Tigers) captained by Sunil Chhetri lifted the Intercontinental Cup by defeating Lebanon team by 2-0 in the Intercontinental Cup final at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.  
  13. Equitas Small Finance Bank has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India to reappoint P N Vasudevan as the Managing Director and CEO of the bank for a period of three years.
  14. Distance runners Karthik Kumar and Gulveer Singh achieved the qualification time for the Hangzhou Asian Games in the men’s 10,000 metres.
  15. Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Naval Command, officially opened the Naval Airfield Integrated Security System (NAISS) and the Naval Anti-Drone System (NADS) at INS Dega in Visakhapatnam, both of which were created in India.
  16. Glenda Jackson, a two-time Oscar winning actress and politician passed away in London at the age of 87.
